Setting tables for weddings, banquets and events

At an event, the tables are the first thing guests see and the last thing staff want to worry about. Gilded vinyl placemats help on both counts: they look formal in photographs and they wipe clean between services instead of going to the laundry.

Count by table, then by set

Start with your floor plan. As a guide, a 60-inch round banquet table seats eight to ten, and a 72-inch round seats ten to twelve. Our placemats come in sets of 6, so work out the total number of seats, then round up to the next full set. Order a few spare sets for last-minute additions and damage.

Match the table shape

Round placemats suit round banquet tables and never leave corners pointing at a neighbor. On long banquet tables, rectangular placemats line up neatly along the edge. Mixing both is fine if you keep one design, for example Sheesh Mahal Round on rounds and Sheesh Mahal Rectangular on the top table.

Choose for the room

Under warm event lighting, bright golds read strongly in photographs. In daylight venues and marquees, champagne and ivory designs look softer and more natural.

Turning tables

Between services, clear the plates and wipe each placemat with a damp cloth. There's no laundering, no ironing and no waiting for linen to come back. Keep a few dry towels on hand so the metallic finish doesn't water-spot.

Storing between events

Store placemats flat and stacked in their sets, away from heat and direct sun. Runners arrive folded in their mailer; lay one flat before its first use, and keep it flat between dinners rather than folded.
